We’re Still Open: The New Aurora Debuts June 2026
Located at the very center of Merano’s Kurpromenade sits The Aurora, which is entering a new chapter under the creative direction of interior designer Hannes Peer, with architecture by feld72. What began over 60 years ago as our family’s living heirloom is now being thoughtfully reimagined – not only in its spaces, but in its very philosophy of hospitality.
This transformation is a careful dialogue between past and present. Design, art, food, and culture will coexist within a contemporary setting that honors the stories and character that have shaped the house for three generations, while confidently looking ahead to what it will become.
The full concept will unfold in June 2026 and we are happy to welcome guests from April 2.

From April, The Aurora will welcome guests in its existing rooms with breakfast. Our café and restaurant will also be open. As we evolve The Aurora towards its new iteration, some renovation will be inevitable. Just cross the bridge for a relaxing soak in the pools and spa at the Merano Thermal Baths, directly across the river from the hotel, while a few steps away, nature invites you to hike, cycle, or explore alpine trails.

ATTENTION: CONSTRUCTION & ACCESS
Hotel access to The Aurora may be affected by construction works. We recommend parking in the thermal baths’ underground garage and walking a short distance to the hotel. If you prefer to arrive by car, please get in touch with us in advance so we can guide you along the best route.
TRAFFIC-CALMED ZONE
The Aurora is located within a traffic-calmed zone. Please provide your license plate before arrival or at check-in so we can arrange access.
